The focus of this family time is to use five easy steps to teach your family that we learn from Jesus and live God’s way, it’s like building a house on a strong rock!
“You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord.’ ... That is what I am. - John 13:13
Learn the Memory Verse together and say it throughout the week to help your family remember and apply what they have learned.
STEP 2. READ THE BIBLE AND WORSHIP
Do you have a nickname? Maybe it's just a silly name; maybe it's a shorter name; maybe it says something about what you are like? John Chrysostom was not John's real name. Chrysostom was a nickname. It means "golden mouth" in his language. John was given that name because he was so good at telling people about Jesus - golden words came out of his mouth! People loved listening to him. They listened at Christmas when John told them about Jesus being born. They listened at Easter when John told them how Jesus died and rose again. They even listened when John told them they were not living the way Jesus wanted! John became so famous that he was asked to be the leader of the biggest church in Constantinople, the biggest town around. The people there liked John telling them about Jesus being born at Christmas and Jesus dying and rising again at Easter, but they did not like being told they were not living the way Jesus wanted The powerful leaders didn't want to hear that they should look after poor people and be kind and generous. John told them anyway! So the powerful leaders sent John away. John wrote letters to remind them how Jesus wanted them to live. They sent him further away! But John never stopped teaching about Jesus - even when it was hard.
STEP 5. Pray!
