PROJECT PURPOSE

WE ARE SO EXCITED TO BUILD A PERMANENT FACILITY THAT WILL HELP US REACH MORE PEOPLE IN THIS AREA AS WELL AS EXPAND OUR INFLUENCE TO ATHENS, GEORGIA AND SEE GOD DO THE SAME GREAT THINGS THERE THAT HE HAS DONE HERE! WE KNOW THAT WE ARE WHERE WE ARE TODAY BECAUSE OF GOD’S FAITHFULNESS AND THE GENEROSITY OF THOSE WHO GIVE.

Connection’s purpose has not changed. Our purpose is to connect people to a growing relationship with Jesus Christ in all we do. As we follow God’s leading, we have identified three next steps for us:

        1. Purchase Land

        2. Permanent Facility in Vidalia

        3. Plant Connection Church Athens

PROJECT GOALS

BUILDING AND PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE TAKES WISDOM AND FAITH.

  • The 1:8 Project leadership team of Connection Church Vidalia have been seeking wisdom and praying earnestly to hear and discern God’s will in this project. The first goal is a very attainable $1 million. The second goal of raising that figure to $1.5 million may take a little more faith. Then, through much prayer, sacrifice and with God’s guidance, a total amount of $2 million would be a miracle. Just remember our God is a big God, and he can do more than we could ever think or imagine!

WANT TO BE INVOLVED BUT NOT SURE HOW?

ARE YOU ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT GIVING TO THIS VISION, BUT NOT SURE WHERE TO START?

HERE ARE SOME CREATIVE WAYS TO HELP ALLOCATE OR FREE UP RESOURCES

SO YOU CAN BE A PART OF THE 1:8 PROJECT.

  • DECREASE: Are there things in your life you can take advantage of less frequently? Maybe it’s fewer Starbucks runs or one less dinner out each week. By decreasing a weekly expense, regardless of what it might be, you can save a significant amount to contribute.
  • DELAY: Are there plans you might be making that involve financial commitment? If so, prayerfully ask God about delaying those plans and using the extra income to contribute.
  • DO MORE: Often, there are creative ways to save money. Maybe it’s been a while since you got a quote for an existing service (ie: cell phone and cable service). Perhaps you could do some extra comparison or bargain shopping to save funds. For your kids, it could be as easy as saving extra change to give.
  • DONATE: A great way to contribute is to give existing assets. Giving your assets to the church and letting us sell them eliminates potential capital gains taxes and may increase after tax proceeds. Please contact the church office for more guidance before committing an asset gift in order to determine its viability for liquidation.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

WHY A PERMANENT FACILITY?

When you’re a growing church, a home base is incredibly helpful. When you don’t have to focus on how to make things work for a service and also make it fit in a trailer, you’re able to focus so much more effort on our primary goal of reaching people. We’ve been very fortunate to meet in public spaces (Partin Park, the Blue Marquee, and STC) over the past 5 years, but we believe God is leading us to take our next step and build a permanent facility. This facility will be a place for us to connect more people to a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. It will be a home base for us to transform this community one life at a time. It will be a launching pad for us to develop more leaders and plant more churches and ultimately reach more people.

WHAT DOES “COMMITMENT” MEAN?

This isn’t a contract, but rather a step of faith and a way to commit to a specific way that you intent to contribute. The leadership of the church uses the commitments for planning and moving forward with the vision of the church.

HOW CAN I HELP?

1.
First and foremost, please pray regularly for our “1:8 Project.”

2. Participate in the events and meetings. Make a commitment to learn as much as you can about the project and the vision it will help us accomplish.

3. Give sacrificially. The vision God has granted us can only be achieved through faith and sacrifice. We have the privilege to be a part of growing His Kingdom.

Why Church Planting?

Most of you are reading this right now because of the effectiveness of church planting. At Connection, we are committed to developing leaders and planting more churches because we believe this is the best way to accomplish the mission of God. Jesus’ strategy to accomplish the mission was centered on his Church. In the book of Acts, Paul’s primary strategy for accomplishing the mission was planting churches. This is why you will hear us say all the time that “we believe the local church is the hope of the world.” We cannot wait to see what God is going to do as we prioritize this with our time, talent, and treasure.
