                              Clarity Week 10

                                 Genesis 12-16

Clarity

CGL Notes: We live in a world where everyone has an opinion about life and how it should work. Many opinions about what’s right and what’s wrong. We also live in a world where everyone seems to have a platform to voice their opinions. This brings confusion in our world but in the midst of confusion, God’s Word brings clarity! In a world with many voices, we are letting God’s voice speak the loudest!

Genesis 12:1-9

These verses show God calling Abram from everything he has ever known to follow him and take Him at His word.

Questions:

- What do these verses teach us about the faith of Abram?

- What does Genesis 12:1 show us about God’s heart for the world? Read Matthew 28:18-20.

- How are you being a blessing to the nations in your life? What is a next step for you to take in being a global Christian?

Genesis 12:10 – 14:12

Abram and Lot had moments where they chose to go in the wrong direction! They chose the comforts of Egypt over the promises of God.

Questions:

- What do these passages show us about the difference in walking by faith and walking by sight?

- What are some ways that comfort can lead us out of God's will instead of into it? What are some examples of times God has called you into something that was uncomfortable? What is something uncomfortable that God is calling you into right now?

- Lot pitched his tent near Sodom and then later became a prisoner of war because he was living in Sodom. What lesson does this teach us about temptation and sin in our own lives? How sin starts and how it ends.

Genesis 15

This chapter shows God reassuring Abram of His promises and making a covenant with him. It also shows us what makes us righteous before God.

Questions:

- What does this chapter teach us about God, and what does it teach us about the Gospel?

Genesis 16

Sarai and Abram try to take things into their own hands and force God’s hand instead of trusting God’s promises. They step into self- reliance much like Adam and Eve did when they sowed fig leaves together instead of waiting on the seed God would provide as He promised in Genesis 3:15.

Questions:

- What are some ways you've seen the desire to control situations and circumstances negatively affect things like your marriage, parenting, job, relationships, etc.?
