Last week Paul showed us that we still have a sinful flesh that tries to wage war within us. This week Paul shows us that in Christ there is no condemnation! Jesus condemned sin in the flesh for us! Now as Christians, we are to have our minds governed by the Spirit, not the flesh!

1.. Vs 1-4 There is no condemnation (guilty verdict) for those in Christ Jesus!

  • How is this truth possible?
  • How does this truth power your relationship with Christ and fight against sin?
  • How does this truth change your day-to-day life?

2.. In vs 5-8 Paul contrasts the saved vs the unsaved!

The unsaved person does not have the spirit of God (vs9) and lives in the flesh for the flesh and they cannot please God (vs 8) The Christian has the spirit of God within and lives in an entirely new and different sphere. As Christians, we have an obligation to live according to the Spirit! (Vs 12)

  • What does it look like to be in the realm of the flesh?
  • What does it look like to be in the realm of the Spirit?
  • Which one of these characterizes your life the most?
  • As Christians what are some practical ways to set our minds on the Spirit and it’s desires and not the flesh and its desires?
