This passage shows us that both Jews and Gentiles are guilty of sin and need a savior. Paul is addressing his fellow Jews, trying to get them to see their self-righteousness and their need for saving just as much (if not more) as the Gentiles need for saving!

  • In your own words, define the sin of self-righteousness, and what are some ways you see this sin play out in your own life.

  • What do we learn about God’s judgment from this passage?

  • What should a deep understanding of God’s judgment and our sin produce in you? Billy pointed out a few.  Ex: our need for the Gospel, Humility, gratitude, worship, and missional urgency. Do you see these things at work in your life?
