Read Romans 2:17-3:8

This passage shows us that both Jews and Gentiles are guilty of sin and need a savior. Paul is addressing his fellow Jews, trying to get them to see their self-righteousness and their need for saving just as much (if not more) as the Gentiles need for saving! He shows us the need for Heart Transformation and not just behavior modification.

• 1. Why is a deep understanding of sin important when it comes to understanding the gospel? Why does Paul spend 3 chapters on sin?

• 2. Why is a new heart necessary for true salvation? How do we know if we have received a new heart?

• 3. What does it look like for us to be the light of the world? For you personally? For us as a church?
