The Example of John the Baptist!
JTB was a great example of what it looks like to serve Christ and make much of Jesus in our lives! He was Humble, he was Faithful, and he was a servant!
His life verse was “He must increase and I must decrease!” What a statement!
- What sticks out to you about John the Baptist's life? And how does this challenge you personally?
- Is your life characterized by humility, faithfulness, and service?
The Right view of Jesus!
Your view of Jesus might be the most important thing in your life! JTB’s whole goal is to show us how great Jesus is! “He must increase. I must decrease.” “He is the Messiah. I am not.” “I'm not worthy to untie his sandal straps.” JTB had the right view of Jesus! Apostle John’s whole goal in the book of John is that we would see how great Jesus is and believe in Him! The whole Bible points us to Christ! He is first, (Colossians 1) He went First, (John 3:16) He stepped towards us even when we stepped away from Him!
- Is Jesus the Greatest thing in your life? He is first, but Is He first in your life?
The Decision Before Us!
Vs 36 says whoever believes has eternal life but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them! Apostle John’s whole goal is that we would see Jesus and Believe! And when we truly believe in Jesus it will change everything in our life! Our mission will be to love Jesus and point others to Him just like JTB did! Sometimes in the Bible Belt, it can seem complicated because everyone “believes.”But the reality is of we are not surrendered to Jesus then we do not truly believe! When we don't truly believe then God’s wrath remains on us!
- Do you truly believe in Jesus?
- If not, What does it mean that the wrath of God remains on you?
