Jesus The Healer It can be very easy to read the Bible and read over the miracles of Jesus and think that they don’t happen anymore. It can be easy to dismiss miracles or healings in our context. But when we read the book of John we see Jesus change people’s lives! John shows us two desperate situations! An officials son about to die, and a paralytic who could not walk! Jesus heals both! We have to be a people who believe in God’s supernatural power to heal and deliver! It may be physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual!  James 5:13-16 13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. The Church has always been known for going to God for healing over their sin and brokenness! Whether it be criticism or cancer we can come to God for healing and freedom! He is able to meet real needs for real people. We want to be a Church that calls on God! And we will worship Him no matter the outcome.

- Q - Is there anything in your life or the life of someone you know that needs healing? Spend some time in Prayer asking God to move in this situation!

Jesus The Lord Jesus’ primary interest wasn’t physical healing… it was spiritual healing. Jesus said, “unless you people see signs and wonders you do not believe.” In other words, Believing in Jesus as a miracle worker is not enough for spiritual healing. The signs and wonders were just the means to an end. They were supposed to result in belief! This is the end Goal! To trust Christ as Lord and Savior! John 20:31 31 But these are written that you may believe[a] that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. (that’s what this book is all about) You Believing! Miracles were a Devine way of showing Jesus’ identity! They are parables to the eye! They show us who He is, LORD! We should be a Church that prays for Miracles but we also have to be careful with them as well… If you’re not careful You can get so obsessed with the miracles that you miss the miracle worker! The message is Believe! Our greatest need is the need to believe in Christ for who He is!   John 5:14 shows us that Jesus’ end goal for this man was Holiness! Only Saving faith leads to Holiness! You can be amazed at Jesus and still not trust in Him! John shows us that we need to trust in Him as Lord and Savior!

- Q - What’s the difference in believing in Jesus as just a miracle worker versus believing in Him as Savior and Lord? (The person that believes in Jesus solely as a miracle worker only comes to him when they need something. But the person who believes in Jesus as savior and lord lays their life down to follow Him every day)

- Q- What does John 5:14 reveal about Jesus’ primary concern?

- Q - What type of belief leads you to sin no more?

Jesus the Hound of Heaven In the past 3 chapters, we see Jesus seeking out people one by one! This is The Mission statement of Jesus. “I came to seek and save the Lost.” And this is exactly what we see Him doing.

CS Lewis says that God is the Hound of Heaven! Meaning that God doggedly pursued him! He tracks us down and meets us exactly where we are! This is what we see Jesus doing. Coming to meet people face to face! One on One!

Coming to do what the Father has sent Him to do! God is still meeting people face to face through God the Holy Spirit! He is still healing, and still saving! Jesus asked the paralytic in 5:6 “do you want to be made well?” That’s my question for you. Do you even want to be made well?

- Q - How is God seeking you out personally? In What ways has he been dealing with you?

(Sin, repentance, next steps)
