Elementary Family Worship

Jesus is the Best Ever!

hThe focus of this family time is to use five easy steps to teach our children that at Easter, we celebrate that Jesus died on the cross to take the punishment for all the wrong things we do AND Jesus came back to life to fix our broken friendship with God! Jesus is the best ever!.

Learn the Memory Verse together and say it throughout the week to help your family remember and apply what they have learned.

MEMORY VERSE:

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

John 3:16

  • Pink - Have you ever seen a bunny in real life?

STEP 2. WORSHIP!

Elementary:

  • Sing and have fun while worshiping then pray. Take a moment here to thank God for your family and your time together!!

STEP 3. BIBLE!

“When God created the world, He made people, and He loved them very much. Out of all the people He made, God chose the Israelites to be His special people. As much as God loved them, the Israelites didn’t always love or obey God. They moved away from the land God gave them to Egypt where an evil ruler named Pharaoh made them slaves. For hundreds of years, the Israelites were treated horribly. God sent a man named Moses to rescue them. God used nine bad things, called plagues, to show Pharaoh that he should let God’s people go free. But Pharaoh kept saying, “No!” For the tenth and final plague, God sent an angel of death to take the life of every firstborn son in Egypt. But to protect His people, God told the Israelite families to prepare a special meal by killing their best lamb and then painting its blood above the doors of their homes. All the families who painted the lamb’s blood above their doors would be saved, because the angel would “pass over” their homes. After that night, Pharaoh knew God was in charge, and He let God’s people go free! God saved His people that night, and He wanted them to always remember it. So every year after that, God’s people remembered the wonderful way He had saved them by celebrating a meal together. They called that meal Passover! God’s people weren’t perfect. They sinned again and again, and since God is perfect and does what is right, He had to punish their sins. But because God loved His people, He didn’t want them to have to die for their sins. So instead, He told them to kill a perfect lamb, and its blood would cover their sins for a little while. Then God made them the best promise ever — one day He would send the Lamb of God to save all people from their sins forever so they wouldn’t have to keep doing this. Many years later, God kept His promise and sent His Son to Earth. What is God’s Son’s name? (Jesus) Jesus died on the cross, taking the punishment for all of the wrong things that you and I do. After Jesus died, they put his body in a tomb. But He didn’t stay in there! Jesus was in the tomb for three days, but then He came back to life! Jesus isn’t in the tomb, because He is alive! Because of what Jesus did, anyone who believes in Him and follows Him can be forgiven of their sins. This is the best story ever!”

STEP 4. DISCUSSION!

Use these questions and points to have a conversation with your children about the Bible story.

  1. Why was it necessary for Jesus to die on the cross?
  2. Have you ever stopped to think that Jesus died on the cross and rose again all because He loves you and because God wanted you to be with Him in heaven one day? How does that make you feel?
  3. What makes Easter the best day ever for you?
  4. God sent His perfect son, Jesus, to take the punishment for all the wrong things we do. He defeated death and came back to life because He loves us and wants us to live with Him forever in heaven one day. That makes this the best story ever!

STEP 5. Pray!

  • That your family would know God sent His Son, Jesus, to Earth to live, die, and rise again because He wanted to save us from our sins forever
  • That they would celebrate this best day ever… every single day
